Common Ground Digital Gardener San Diego Gardener |
On Saturday, June 13, 1998, from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm, the San Diego Master Composters and Solana Recyclers will be hosting a "Sustainable Gardening Workshop Festival" at the Solana Recyclers site in Encinitas, 137 N. El Camino Real (past the Sheriff's Substation).Meet eco-journalist, Loren Nancarrow, and entomologist, Janet Taylor, who will be on hand to sign copies of The Worm Book, their new guide to gardening and composting with worms. Take home some cool garden art by Solana's resident "scrap-ture" artists.
Check out the free workshops on composting, vermicomposting, and organic gardening. Learn the secrets of making compost, a natural soil conditioner and fertilizer, richer than anything you can buy. Learn how, with a minimum of fuss, worms can turn your kitchen waste into the finest richest compost imaginable. And learn how easy it is to grow healthy plants with fewer pests ... without poisons.
Compost, compost bins, worm bins, worms, and castings will also be available for purchase - proceeds to support the Master Composter program.
Solana Recyclers, a non-profit environmental organization, provides public education on composting and coordinates the San Diego Master Composter Training Program. For more information, please call the Solana Recyclers "Rotline" at (760) 436-7986.
