A large annual event, this year the show is enhanced with the sponsorship of the San Diego Horticultural Society.
Several garden clubs, plant societies, and other plant-related groups have been invited
to join the SDHS to bring you the best of horticulture in San Diego. Take advantage of
these people -- learn from them and ask them questions. Many will be selling plants to
benefit their organizations. Who knows... you may even find yourself joining a couple
of garden clubs.
Display gardens, information booths, plant sales, demonstrations from over twenty San
Diego plant and garden related organizations, and ongoing seminar speakers each day.
Come experience the comraderie and enthusiasm of gardeners together with
other gardeners.

At center stage in the gazebo, directing you just where to find that
information about ivies, geraniums, ferns, daylilies and more. Examples of
interesting flowers and plants from members gardens. Memberships. Examples
of horticultural publications for California. Information on rare and
interesting plants.
San Diego Master Gardeners
The Master Gardener volunteers will be presenting information on safe pest
control, with photo examples of beneficial insects. They will also be
answering general gardening information questions.
American Ivy Society
Demonstrating the large selection of ivies available. The society will be
selling ivy, "The Ivy Book" and the society booklet "Knowing and Growing Ivy"
Baja and Old World Succulent Gardens, Wild Animal Park
Volunteers will be available to answer questions on succulents and native Baja
plants. They will also be selling plants to benefit the gardens.
California Groundwater Association - Southern California Branch
Informational video on water wells, pumps, irrigation systems, water quality,
as well as state and county regulations regarding groundwater.
National Fuchsia Society
Volunteers will be selling starter plants, showing specimen plants and will be
available to answer questions regarding fuchsias.
Olivenhain Garden Club
Members will be available with information about the club, general gardening
information, and spreading the joy of gardening! Some hyper-tufa troughs will
be available for sale. (Saturday only.)
San Diego Master Composters
Information on how to simply compost in your own backyard, with demonstration
compost bins, worm bins and red worms. Attendees will be able to order home
composting bins.
American Bamboo Society, Southern California Chapter
Display of bamboo plants and information on bamboos.
Las Colinas Nursery and Landscape Management Program
Showing plants grown by jail inmates.
Bonita Valley Garden Club
Members will be showing plants, garden decor, gardening tips and information,
offering memberships.
City Beautiful of San Diego
Displaying opportunities to be come involved in the beautification of San
Diego through plants.
Water Conservation Garden
Presenting a new botanical garden opening to the public in San Diego.
Offering Xeriscape San Diego Style booklets and other educational handouts.

commemorative brick paver.
San Diego Fern Society

California Rare Fruit Growers - San Diego Chapter

Showing the plants and trees on which rare fruits grow, as well as examples of
rare fruits and vegetables. Rare fruit and membership information available.
Quail Botanical Gardens
Demonstration garden, photo display, information on Quail events and
memberships.
Quail Children's Garden
Educational display and play area for young children with water feature and
plant education.
San Diego Epiphyllum Society
Offering growing tips and other information about epiphyllums.
San Diego Cactus & Succulent Society
Exhibiting cactus and succulents. Offering club information and plants for
sale.
San Dieguito Garden Club
Will display flower arrangements, have potting demonstrations. Members will
also be selling plants and enrolling new members.
The Herb Club
Will offer information and ideas for growing and using herbs, with free
literature. Plants and possibly herb related items will be for sale.
East County Rose Society
Members will be available to answer questions and to provide information on
roses, as well as to enroll new members.
San Diego Geranium Society
Information on propagating and growing geraniums, membership in the society,
handouts and plants for sale.
Mary's Decollate Snails
Informational display demonstrating the decollate snails as a natural predator
of plant destructive snails. Decollate snails will be available for sale.
CHIRP
Information on songbirds in the environment. Offering discounts on 1999 Sage
and Songbirds Garden Tour.
Plant Doctor
Information on treating plants with pests or diseases. Geared for elementary
school children.
California Women for Agriculture
Children's activity from 11-3 pm on Saturday. "Kids can grow zinnias, too!"
Southwest Hemerocallis Society
Hemerocallis are daylilies and experts from this society have informational
material and will be selling plants
