Apples

Apples (Malus pumila) are the most widely adapted of all temperate zone deciduous fruit. There are varieties appropriate to almost all the climatic regions of the western states. Apples need lots of care and yearly pruning. Most apples listed are semi self-fruitful and will fruit sufficiently for the average home gardener. Exceptions that need pollinizers are noted. Pollinizer should be used for commercial yields.
