The San Diego Master Composters is a program run by Solana Recyclers, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Volunteers conduct compost mini-workshops and participate in a variety of compost education activities throughout the San Diego County community.

The program trains volunteers in the art of composting and how to teach others to compost. The training includes workshops on the art and science of home composting, public speaking & teaching skills, field trips, and certification. In exchange for the instruction, participants are expected to contribute at least thirty (30) hours of community service. There is also a $25 materials fee.

A new Master Composter Training Course sponsored by the City of San Diego is now being offered. This training course is planned for April 19 through June 7 (Eight wednesday evenings, 6:00pm-8:30pm). Class size is limited.

Master Composter training enhances the skills of gardeners, community leaders, activists, environmentalists, and recyclers. We encouraged people of all ages and abilities to apply. If you have ideas and energy for community action, this class is for you.
